FASHION: Work Event

The other day I was invited to a work event in which the dress code was formal and to wear pearls because of our team name. I was really struggling on what to wear but my outfit came together when I found the most perfect pair of pink/nude shoes in the New Look sale.
I wanted a nude shoe that would go with pretty much anything that was a closed shoe at the front. I saw these and instantly fell in love with them immediately, plus they were the last ones in store and were my size, if that's not fate I'm not sure what is. I love the colour the front is more nude faux suede but the straps and the heel are more pink. I love the straps and think they look really pretty and elegant. The heel wasn't too big and so were quite easy to walk in and they were such a bargain at £8!! How could you say no!

I teamed them up with a pink printed shift dress from Dorothy Perkins and wore a Missguided belt so that I had a little more shape in my outfit. I also wore my black River Island blazer as it was a little chilly and my Asos fringed suede bag. I was really comfortable all evening and received lovely comments from some of the ladies I went to the meeting with. I actually enjoyed getting dressed up and fancy for an evening and if you win a bottle of wine in the process it's all good.

What are your go to style staples for a night out?

BOOKS: Lindsey Kelk - Always a Bridesmaid

I wasn't sure whether or not to pick up Lindsey Kelk's 'Always a Bridesmaid' when it was first released. For as long as I can remember I really haven't liked books about weddings so I was a little unsure what to do. I am, however, a massive fan of some of Lindsey Kelk's other novels, so decided to take the risk.
I'm really glad that I did. The story follows Maddie Fraser who has been asked to be a bridesmaid for her best friend, Lauren, alongside their other friend, Sarah. Maddie is an events planner and I found myself really intrgued with the industry and she agrees to help Lauren plan her own wedding. The story follows the three friends, each of them struggling with their own problems, whether that's work, family problems, planning a wedding or relationship problems. I loved the friendship and reading about all their ups and downs, the banter between the characters were believable and made the characters that more lovable. Alongside the friendship between the girls we also see romance for Maddie, but things aren't all that they seem.

I liked that the novel didn't focus solely on the wedding aspect of the story and I think that made the book more entertaining. This book really got me back into reading that more chick lit stories as I was struggling to really get back into reading a lot. The characters are realistic once again and completely loveable and I found myself routing for the underdog. I'm sure if you're already a fan of Lindsey Kelk you would love this, it's definitely worth a read. I know several days I literally did nothing else but sit and read 'Always a Bridesmaid' for hours on end.

What have you been reading recently.

BEAUTY: Zoeva Rose Golden Collection

Every blogger and their mother has spoken about the Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set and I've had my eye on them for a while now but I kept putting off buying them for one reason or another. I finally caved a little ago and I'm so happy that I did. I store the brushes in a Ted Baker pot that I picked up from Boots at Christmas. It used to have a candle inside but I just burnt that down and cleaned the pot out and think that the Zoeva brushes look absolutely gorgeous stored inside.
First off they look so beautiful with the black and rose gold, they look a lot more expensive than what they are too. The brushes are incredibly soft too, I wasn't expecting them to be quite so soft, but it makes applying your makeup really lovely. The brushes come in a brown leather makeup bag with rose gold lettering and hardware which has been living in my bag since they arrived.

I love the 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek I tend to use this to apply bronzer as it applies the product really lightly which is how I like my bronzer to look. It's the perfect shape, in my opinion, to contour your cheeks also and I've been using this brush most days. I've also been loving the 142 Concealer Buffer in particular to blend concealer around my nose and under my eyes. It's the perfect size to get into these smaller areas. Before I just used my fingers to blend concealer but you can tell the difference when using the brush. I also really love the 102 Silk Finish brush to apply my foundation. I loved the Real Techniques Buffing Brush but I find that this is slightly more dense and leaves my foundation looking flawless.

Finally, I've been using the eye brushes pretty much everyday. I've been desperate to buy the Mac eyeshadow brushes but I never get around to it, now that these are in my life though I can settle. The 227 Luxe Soft Definer and 231 Luxe Petit Crease brushes have made applying eyeshadow so much easier and my eyeshadow looks a lot better than what it used to. I definitely need to invest in more of these brushes that's for sure.

What are your favourite makeup brushes?
