The indie pop song, Shenna has recently released her single, 'So Low' off of her upcoming album 'Made of Gold' set to be released later this year and if there's one thing this track will do, its get you up on the dance floor dancing along to it.
With infectious beats, there is a great bounce to the track and Shenna's unique voice reminds me a little of Lady Gaga meets Demi Lovato on the track. The track, for me has an almost futuristic sound to it which stems from the beats that have been created. A track that is destined to be a club hit, there's a little bit of everything with techno bass beats and synthesised vocals mixed with parts of rap, it's mixed incredibly well. Shenna also has an incredible voice that's very varied. She can easily switch from a pop sound to her R&B nature. 'So Low' is a track that tells a story of an individual gaining independence and acknowledging the fact that they can make it on their own in the world by letting go of everything holding them back from success. The track was also produced by Austin Bello from Forever the Sickest Kids, his work is also shown throughout the rest of her upcoming album.
Whilst I was recently watching YouTube I noticed that a lot of people were using a water bottle with a gauge on the side that informed them how much water they needed to drink at certain times of the day. I'm one of those people who does actually like drinking water but I could never keep track on how much I was actually drinking so I wanted one of these bottles so I could be sure I was drinking enough water in the day and doing it properly. The brand is called HydrateM8 and I love my bottle.
HydrateM8's are a clear bottle with different coloured lids and straws, I picked myself up the orange bottle and I got Scott the blue bottle. Each of the bottles have a slogan printed on them too with a little bit of motivation, such as 'carpe diem' or 'summer mode' which I thought was a nice touch. Down the back of the bottle is where the gauge is printed on informing you how much water you should've drunk by a certain time. There is also some motivation down the side too such as 'keep drinking' 'nearly there' and 'good job' so if you don't really like drinking water I feel like this helps to encourage you.
They're brilliant for taking around with you too. The lid is very sturdy and the straws folds away so you don't have to worry about it leaking all in your bag or anything. They're brilliant for if you have to do a lot of driving. Whether that's your job entails you to drive a lot of if you're just going out for the day and it's a long drive as you don't have to worry about unscrewing any lids you just pull the straw up. I've had mine for a week now and have used it every single day. Both myself and Scott are a little obsessed with using them at the moment. I also prefer using the bottle than having to go out and keep buying bottles of water each day. This way I can keep a jug of water in the fridge and fill my own HydrateM8 up and I'm good to go.
I would highly recommend. Especially if you're someone who does need to drink more water. They're not too cheap at £13.99 but they're definitely worth it and the quality of the bottle seems amazing. HydrateM8 also Children's bottles. Obviously these are a little smaller but they're perfect for your child to take to school with them. Finally the brand also does Fruit Infusers, so if you like your water to have a little more flavour to it, you can use these to help them taste a little sweeter.
Today's music post comes in the form of cinematic dirt rock band, Forebear with their latest single 'Delroy Lindo'. I had no idea what to expect when I started listening to the band I was expecting something quite heavy with the description of 'dirt rock band' but was pleasantly surprised that the track was much more meaningful and thought provoking. The track showcases the bands signature sound of brooding vocal hooks, clashing guitars and mournful strings.
The band is made up of four musicians each who have worked with incredibly artists in the past such as Bastille, Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and more. The four of them met in early 2014 before forming the band. Each of the band members bring something different to the band Scott Goldbaum's vocals are gorgeous, and incredibly haunting on this track which I think helps to draw you in as well as playing the lead guitar. Molly Rogers plays the viola which adds to the atmosphere of the song, giving them that brooding sound which is a unique in this genre of music. Whilst Mike Mussleman and Nick Chamian pull the band together with their methodical rhythm sections of drum and bass.
'Delroy Lindo' itself is quite a dark track about broken promises and romanticising situations. It starts quite soft and reminds of Josh Record debut album (which we all know I loved) before the drums and viola come into play. The track is incredibly atmospheric and makes you feel a lot of emotion that you can imagine the characters going through. With lyrics such as 'pack your boxes before one us changes their mind again' and 'it won't do you're the loneliest of nations I have ever served' it emphasises the breaking down of what they were hoping would be perfect. To me, it's a very sad track facing disappointment of what they hoped California would be. Scott Goldbaum's vocals are incredibly, his tone is so beautiful and perfect for this track. Quickly shifting from his chest voice to falsetto. It's beautifully unique just like Forebear themselves. Good God is set to be released August 26th.
I've recently been using the Clinique Smart Night Moisturiser just before I go to bed and I've been loving the product. I've been taking all my make up off and then applying this before I go to sleep and I've been enjoying how my skin looks and feels afterwards.
The product is quite thick and heavier than other moisturisers I've used from the brand however I tend to find that night creams are a lot thicker anyway. The product sinks into the skin really quickly and doesn't feel sticky or tacky on the skin at all. My skin also feels super soft after applying it. I've also found that with a combination of using the Smart Night Moisturiserand the Moisture Surge in the day that any dry patches that I usually get are non-existent. My skin is also looking a lot brighter and glowing. One thing I don't like about the moisturiser is the smell. I do find it quite strong and a little like antiseptic cream but I can ignore that fact if its making a difference in my skin.
The product isn't the cheapest. Mine was in a Bonus Time Gift so I've just been testing it out, but at £48 I do think it's expensive. I'm going to keep testing it out over the next month or so and I'll get back to you on whether I would repurchase it. I do think it's been amazing but I'm not sure if I'd part with that much money for it yet.
Have you tested the Clinique Smart Night Moisturiser before? Let me know what you think?
I am a massive Charlotte Crosby fan. I'm not going to lie this time last year I hadn't a clue who she was but a late night Geordie Shore marathon when nothing else was on made me fall in love with her personality. She just seems so genuine and is incredibly funny. I asked Scott for her book (Me, Me, Me) for my birthday and he managed to pick me up the paperback version with an added chapter in the back (woo-hoo).
Firstly, I couldn't put the book down. I'm not one to read autobiographies or memoirs normally. I've only read a handful before from women that I really look up to and admire. With Charlotte Crosby's book I just wanted to know more and I knew it would be an hilarious read. If one thing is for sure I wasn't disappointed. The book is broken up into sections of her life, or incidents that have happened in her life. The chapter titles really make you want to keep reading. Every time I finished a chapter I'd read the name of the next and I'd be like, 'oh god, what did she do next'. I just couldn't put the book down.
You learn more about her family life and I think it's amazing how supportive her family has been about her career choices and lifestyle choices. I know if I passed out on my roof, my parents would probably kill me. I love that we learn more about her friends growing up as well as her Geordie Shore friends. But the main thing I liked about the book is the way its written. It's literally like you're sat with her and she's just chatting away and telling you all these stories. I think that's what made me keep reading. She comes across as a down to earth - if not eccentric when drunk - person and I guess that's from how she's been raised. Fame just doesn't seem to have faced her especially when you read the sections about her being star struck over meeting celebrities.
If you're a fan of Charlotte Crosby's or you're looking for a down to earth book that will keep you laughing, I would definitely check out her Me. Me, Me book. It's now available in paperback with an extra chapter in there too. Have you guys read her book? What did you think? Also, have you tried out her workout DVD's and are they any good, I'm really tempted to give them a go.
I love a good The Body ShopCollection and their summer collections are always something I'm drawn to. This year the collection is Pinita Colada and it smells just like summer. It smells really light and fresh with the pineapple and coconut scent you're left smelling like a tropical holiday, which I personally love.
I picked up the Pinita Colada Shower Gel and Pinita Colada Body Sorbet, both products I've tried before in different fragrances and really love. Firstly, the shower gel. You can never go wrong with the shower gel. It's really gentle on the skin and leaves you feeling incredibly fresh and clean. It's a shower gel so there's not much to say about it to be fair. I do however, really love the packaging. The bottle is slightly different to their usual shower gels and I think it looks really cute sat on your shelf.
The Pinita Colada Body Sorbet is amazing, especially if you've caught the sun a little bit. I love the sorbets if I've been sat out in the sun or been in the sun a little too much. I hate that tight feeling your skin gets if your feeling a little sun burnt or tanned, so I love to apply the sorbets. I find they help get rid of this tightness and also helps to cool the skin. Though the sorbets aren't really moisturising like the body butters I find they're perfect for the summer as a little top and boost of hydration to the skin. When you apply this product, the scent is so strong I feel like you don't have to apply perfume. I would highly recommend. I really wanted to pick up the Body Scrub in this fragrance too, but at the time I went to buy it they were all sold out. It's definitely my favourite collection since the Wild Argan Oil range.
Have you tried out The Body Shop's new Pinita Colada range yet? Let me know what you think?
Youtube and Blogger, Zoe Sugg, has just released her third collection for Zoella Beauty and I think it may be my favourite yet. I've only tested two of the products but the scent is by far my favourite. It's sweeter but not sickly either, Zoe, herself has said the scent is based on macaroons and sweet almond. It's perfect for this time of year as it's really light and sweet, they've definitely managed to find the balance of creating a sweet scent without it being too much.
When the products were released I picked up two products as I didn't know whether I'd like the fragrance so didn't want to invest in the entire collection. I picked up the Bath Latte and Sweet Inspirations Body Mist. So, the body mist smells amazing. Like I've said the balance of sweetness is perfect. I tend to get a little spray happy with it but I don't ever find that it smells to over powering like some perfumes or body sprays can when you apply too much. The smell lasts a long time before you have to reapply it too. Plus the packaging is amazing. I love the 1920's theme that she's gone with for the collection.
Definitely going to have to repurchase this, I'm obsessed.
I was so excited for the Bath Latte firstly, I love the name. Secondly, the packaging is amazing, I think the milk bottle look of it is so cute and you could use it after you've used it up and washed it out to put a flower or plant in it (mine would be fake because I can't keep plants alive). I pour a small amount into my bath as it's running and allow for it to create bubbles, I normally just swish my hand in the bath water to make sure that it's foaming up and creating a good amount of bubbles too. I love to have a soak in the bath with this product as my skin comes out feeling really soft. I was really impressed with this product, I know sometimes these products don't always foam up or they don't feel like they're benefiting your skin in anyway but this really does. This collection is definitely one that I've been the most excited about and I will be popping into Superdrug tomorrow to have a nosey at the other products too. I'm excited to try out the Double Creme Body Lotion and the Sugar Dip Scented Bath Salts too.
Have you tested any of the products yet? Let me know what your favourite is.
Nicky Davey are back with their unique soulful pop sound with the first track off their upcoming album 'XXX' set to be released later this year. The single is called 'Oxygen' and sounds incredibly romantic. The track has a very sensual flow to it which is also depicted in the music video starring Tosha Eason.
Nick Green said 'I wanted to be honest to myself and others about the way I felt. I feel like as songwriters we all write songs in some shape or form about out love interest/inspiration'. This definitely shows in the track, like I said its incredibly romantic and perfectly describes the first stages of falling in love. It's exciting and fresh and new. With lyrics like 'I'm catching butterflies' it's clear to see that this a new relationship that they're nervous but excited about. The lyrics also, to me, shows that they're just enjoying their time with lyrics like 'head up in the sky' it's like nothing could bring them down from their high.
They have a very unique sound to their music. It's incredibly soulful due to Nick Green's voice. But they have a very cool R&B style to them too, the more old school sound of this genre. It's very cool and feels like they aren't trying. They would definitely be making your knees go weak with their slick sound.

Everyone is talking about NYX Cosmetics at the moment, ever since Boots started stocking the brand. Yesterday, I had a couple of bits I needed to pick up before I went away and decided to have a little mooch around the counter. I behaved myself since I know I'm going to do so much shopping in Trafford Center later this week and just picked up two of their Soft Matte Lip Creams.
The Soft Matte Lip Creams are basically a liquid lipstick. They apply with a lipgloss applicator but are incredibly pigmented. They apply quite glossy and sticky before drying down on the lips into a matte finish. I have a love hate relationship with liquid lipsticks. I find that they are either too sticky and don't dry out enough and end up getting all over your teeth or they don't apply as much colour as I like. These, however, are the perfect formula. They apply sticky to begin with which makes it really easy to apply but then they dry out and stay on your lips for an incredibly long time.
Despite the matte formula, I don't find the product drying on the lips either. They feel really creamy and they don't peel like a lot of lipgloss. They also don't hug the dry patches on your lips too which I like. There are so many colours to pick from I ended up with Cannes and Istanbul but I was eyeing up Sao Paulo too. I love both the colours I picked up. Cannes looks a bit more brown/pink in the tube but applied on me as very deep colour. Whereas Istanbul is definitely more of a baby pink shade, perfect for spring/summer. I would definitely check out the NYX counter if you have one near you. It's really affordable for some great quality products.
This last two months my hair has drove me mad. I've been using the same shampoo and conditioner for about a year I would say and one day when I used it I noticed that my scalp became really sore and each time I washed my a hair I noticed that my scalp became more and more inflamed. So I've been hunting for a new shampoo and conditioner that made my hair look and feel soft the way that one had previously.
I've had so many problems trying to find something suitable for my hair. I colour my hair so I try and find something that adds hydration because my hair can become really damaged. But the few I tried just weren't working for me. I noticed that when washing my hair the 'repair my hair' sort of shampoos just weren't soaping up the way I like and my hair never felt super clean either. I was also finding I was spending ages trying to wash my hair and make sure it soaped up and was as clean as possible when I could really do with something that was quick and easy especially when you're getting ready in the morning.
I then tried the Nicky Clarke SmoothSilk Frizz Shampoo and Conditionerand my hair felt so much better immediately. My soaped up the way I like it to when washing my hair and once I had dried it felt and looked really soft. I like the smell of the product too (unlike others that I had tried previously) and it wasn't a break the bank price. I haven't had a sore scalp since using this and my hair feels a lot healthier. If you're struggling with sore scalps or wanting to find something that makes your hair look silk, I would recommend trying these out. I was so impressed with what they've done for my hair.
Last Wednesday I went to see The Summer Set at Nottingham Rescue Rooms and it has been one of my favourite gigs I've been too. Though it was only a small turnout, the crowd were still incredibly supportive and the atmosphere was just like a party in there with tracks like 'Figure Me Out' and 'All My Friends'.
I first started listening to The Summer Set (an American pop/punk band) in about 2010 when my brother introduced me to them, and I loved their 'Legendary' album when it was released in 2013 but they've released a new album, 'Stories For Monday' and it's definitely my favourite. With catchy lyrics and a feel good sound this album had me dancing from the first listen. It's definitely the perfect summer album.
As for the gig, the band were incredible. Performing a nice mix of their new songs and old, Brian Dales is such a great frontman, not only with great vocals, but getting the crowd moving and the interaction was perfect. Highlights for me, were 'Boomerang', 'The Night Is Young', 'Chelsea' and 'Missin' You'. It was a night full of singing, dancing and smiles. I don't think I've ever smiled so much. I liked how they interacted with their fans but there were no gimmicks, it was just a bunch of friends on stage performing and you could see how much they love doing it. I liked the naturalness of the gig too, there wasn't any forced choreography or hitting marks etc, but they were just moving around the stage and performing without a care, which I think made it so enjoyable. You could see that they were enjoying themselves which made the crowd have a good time too. I would recommend seeing them again, it was my first time watching them live, but my brother and his friend have seen them 4 times now and say they're always amazing. I can't wait to watch them perform again.
If you're a fan of The Cab and All Time Low you'll probably like these. Check out the music video for The Summer Set's music video for 'Missin' You' below:
When I was in my local Boots the other day, I spotted that Barry M had a new range of nail paints out from the last time I visited. This was the Coconut Infusion Range. The formula includes coconut water and coconut oil to help hydrate your nails whilst still providing a glossy gel-like finish.
(My nails are slightly chipped but this was 4 days after I applied it)
I was more interested in the colours than the added coconut benefits though I was curious about it. I struggle with peeling nails and so I thought this may help to prevent my nails from peeling a little and I have noticed an improvement in this too. I love the colour, I picked up Surfboard which is a pale nude pink. It looked really nice with my accessories for Saturday night too. It's the perfect colour to wear all year round in my opinion too. It's still has that glossy finish like the Barry M Gelly range does too. I'm definitely going to be going back into store and picking up a few other colours as they were all really pretty.
Today's music comes in the form of a young male artist called Joshua Luke Smith with his new single 'Carry Me'. A song about coming home and being free to be who you are, Joshua has said,
'Along my own journey I've defined home as living as the person you were born to be, free from pressures of other perceptions and your own self-depreciation. 'Home' is a identity without illusion, without the confusion of trying to be someone we are not. We all get distracted, disappointed and at times disillusioned with who we are and where we're at but there's hope in knowing you can change direction, there's hope in knowing you can always return home'.
'Carry Me' is a song about appreciating the people who stand by you throughout. Using his beautiful soulful voice for the chorus to sing about being 'free' and 'walking in the wrong direction' we can hear how gorgeous Joshua's tone is. He then raps the verses, he's captured the right balance between the two and shows off how much talent he has. With a song that has a lot of depth behind it and has been so beautifully crafted its hard to believe that Joshua has never physically written a single line of his songs but has clearly not allowed his dyslexia hold him back when it comes to his poetry and artistry.
A song about peer pressure as a teenager the music video portrays this message beautifully. We see a group of teenagers out late at night getting drunk and fooling around until someone takes things too far and one of the boys can't handle the pressure to be someone he isn't even if it means fitting in. The video is beautifully shot showing clips of the boys mother crying at home looking at pictures of him as a young boy before he returns home sitting on the door step visibly upset with the person he's become. It's an incredibly inspiring song and music video. I love that the message is powerful and something that we can all relate to. Joshua Luke Smith is definitely someone we should be keeping an eye one as he simply oozes talent.

I recently received a sample of the MorroccanOil Treatmentand whilst I initially just put the bottle away without much thought I tried it the other week and fell in love with the product.
I struggle with my hair getting greasy at the roots and having dry ends, so using serums on the lengths of my hair really helps. I applied the MorroccanOil Treatment to damp hair, so when I dried my hair half way through I applied a small amount of the product through my hair. I sectioned my hair into three sections and ran the product through the end of my hair before drying it completely.
Once my hair was dry I noticed that my hair felt a lot softer and healthy immediately. But after I straightened my hair the next morning you could instantly see a difference. My hair looked a lot healthier and felt it, it also looked a lot shinier. I would really recommend trying out the brand if you're like me and do suffer with dry ends to your hair. You only need a small amount so I know the sample that I've got will last me a while.
I've been a fan of Busted since I was about 7/8 and when I heard that they were reuniting again I was overjoyed. The thing is you never know how it's going to go, some people have a comeback and they're amazing and others leave you a little disappointed. The other day Busted released the lyric video to their first single of the band back together and I'm a fan of it.
Though it's not very typical Busted in sound, it's really up my street in sound. The song is called Coming Home and basically tells the story how they've all gone their separate ways but now it's time to come back to where they started, essentially coming home. Lyrics such as 'I miss my family' shows how much this reunion must mean to the band.
The track is a lot more mellow than what we're used to from Busted, the slick and tongue in cheek lyrics have gone and they've provided a more serious and sincere track. Though its still got an electronic sound to them, typical of their older material. It reminds me a lot more of what Charlie Simpson did as a solo artist but with a little more life behind it. The song is optimistic about the future and I can't wait to hear what's next for the band. I wish I had tickets to their tour but I'll stick to listening to Coming Home on repeat.

This week music wise we're talking about Australian singer Jude Perl who's just released her debut album Modern Times. Challenging the motive behind music with the album, she's created an upbeat, funky album that will have you wanted to sing along over and over again.
Jude Perl has a very distinctive voice, she doesn't sing with her accent like some artists do, but at the same time has a stand out voice in a similar way that Lily Allen has. Having created a 'funk-a-licious' album it will have you wanted to travel back in time to the 80's and go to a disco, but at the same time it still sounds very current. The album opens with the single 'Hungry and Horny' this is such a great introduction to the album, it's upbeat and features the disco element heavily. It's cool and fun and so well crafted. Demonstrating her different skills and styles to music with her funk and soul style used in so many of her tracks, 'Yetta' sees her edgier side as she plays around with some rock elements. She also shows her softer side with track 'The Better Life Gets' which opens with just a piano.
As well as having the upbeat element, she also takes it back a notch with the second track 'Can't Wait to See You' which is a lot more innocent and young, in my opinion, when you're just falling in love and eager to see your partner. It almost sounds like a song from a musical which I love. It's cute and fun with lyrics such as 'my heart belonged to you before I knew your name' it reminds me of a young teenager love and the repeatedly sung 'can't wait to see you' its probably the most innocent track on the album.
As well as the fun side of her album, Jude Perl also takes the time to take a few digs at the media and advertisements in particular. With tracks like 'Poison Diet' and lyrics like 'desensitised' and 'no time to reflect on this disaster' I can't help but think how gossip magazines are always trying to sell us weight loss tricks and these diets, I like the fact that she's calling them outright. Making a statement is so difficult these days, but Jude Perl has done it in such an elegant way. Along with the track 'Money Got in the Way' another track with a lot power behind it 'took the spark out of your eye' and how the person changed what they wanted to do to fit into society and follow the 'rules' that we don't even realise are being told to us all the time. "Music and advertising are so intertwined, which to me seems ludicrous, as they have such different goals, Music is supposed to elevate people and challenge people and advertising kind of does the opposite" is what Jude Perl has previously said and I feel like these two tracks in particular demonstrate this.
Within her album she also has these breaks of thirty seconds of songs that sound a lot like advertisement jingles. 'Sugar-Ohs''Sugar Stuff' and 'SugarHope' they are all quirky and not necessrily what you expect to appear on an album but at the same time they seem to fit in perfectly especially because of the premise and what she hopes to achieve with the album.
If you're looking for something a little bit different and quirky, I would recommend giving Jude Perl's Modern Times a listen. It's been crafter so incredibly. Check out Jude Perl's music video for 'Hungry and Horny' below.
I've been using the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm for about two years now and I'm still as in love with it as when I first picked it up. I bought it when I was first getting into skincare and beauty the second time around so when I was about 18/19 and I've been using it ever since not really using any other lip balm since.
I like the formula of the product, it is quite thick and heavy duty so I tend to pack a lot on to my lips at night to act almost like a mask. I wear a lot of matte lipsticks so my lips do get really dry throughout the day and I find this works really well in saving them a little. Whereas when I apply it throughout the day I only put a very small amount on. The product also acts like a gentle scrub I find. It is ever so slightly gritty so removes any dead cells. Whilst the product is quite thick, it feels very light on the lips which I love. It dries really quickly so if you're applying a lipstick on top you're not waiting around ages. It's very nourishing and feels really creamy on the lips too, you can feel the benefits on the lip balm straight away. I can't go to bed at night without applying this lip balm anymore or my lips just feel too dry and tight. If you're in the market for a new lip balm I highly recommend checking out the Nuxe Reve de Mielpriced at £9.50 on Feel Unique its such a bargain and the product lasts ages. I've only had to buy two in the entire time that I've been using the product.
I was in our local Tesco the other week with Scott and I was looking at the makeup stands in the search for a new nail polish. I haven't bought many nail polishes for a while and so a lot of mine are quite old now and are starting to go sticky and tacky and aren't applying very smoothly. I was on the hunt for a new blue shade when I spotted the Rita Ora collection for Rimmel and found the shade Bestival Blue.
I really like this shade and alongside a Barry M nail polish these are the only two shades I've been wearing all month. It's a pale blue shade that pops on the nails. It's perfect for spring and looks really fresh. I'm so glad to be able to take off the berry coloured shades that always end up staining my nails despite a base coat. This applies really smoothly and you can get away with a single coat if you are in a rush. The polish dries really quickly too which is always a bonus and you don't then have to sit and wait ages for it to dry and are then in fear of smudging it. I've found I can get away with a couple of days without the nail paint chipping but I do have to take it off after 3-4 days. I haven't worn a blue shade in such a long time so I've been really loving wearing the shade. There's some really nice colours in the Rita Ora range so I might have to pop back in and have another look.
I've found it difficult to find a pair of gym leggings I really like. Some are see through which means you always have to wear a longer top - which I don't mind but some days I want to wear something a little tighter that isn't swishing around me. Some just go rubbish when you wash them. The struggle has been real for me. That's until I spotted these Adidas Response Tights.
I saw a girl wearing them at my gym and I thought they looked really cool. I've been after some plain black gym leggings for a while and I liked the Adidas stripes going horizontally across the knee and thought it looked different. I was then on the hunt for these leggings, I wanted to try them on see how they fit and ultimately see if they were see through. I found them about 2-3 weeks after my search at my gym on promotion for £29.99 instead of £40. After trying them on I knew I had to have them.
I bought a size small, and they fit perfectly. They have a drawstring tie inside to make them tighter around the waist if need be too. They're super stretchy so great for squatting and stretching in. They're also really lightweight in feel too, so you don't get too hot in them. My bum also looks amazing in them which is always a bonus. Though they're slightly more pricey that I would've intially thought about paying for some gym leggings I love them to bits and already have had my money's worth out of them. Definitely check them out if you're in the market for some new gym leggings.
Lánre a british singer songwriter is releasing her latest new EP on the 29th April and I have been fortunately asked to review the album before its release for you guys. The EP is called 'Human' and captures Lánre as an artist beautifully. Each song is incredibly uplifting and inspiring, they also have a dreamlike magical feel to them.
Lánre uses her Yoruba heritage to influence her soulful style, with captivating storytelling and an acoustic feel to her songs, she definitely stands out in a crowd of music. The opening and title track of the EP, Human sounds more synthesized than the rest of the EP probably with a lot more production. 'Making the same mistakes over and over again, hoping that somehow it'll work out in the end', is the opening lyrics and the rest of the song talks about the bad things happening to make things better, with 'we're all broken so that the light can come in' being sung almost like an anthem throughout the song. Though it's a very delicate song until the bridge Lánre has such a silky voice that you get enticed in with.
Fire is next - which is probably my favourite - it starts more acoustic and folky than the previous song which is definitely more my cup of tea, It just sounds more authentic and natural to me, and its more moody, with lyrics like 'nothing lasts forever' and 'I did my best 'til the very end' it's very encouraging for you to do the same. The song has a much more moodier feel like I said before with the beats that it uses and Lánre lower tone being used throughout.
Dreams is very much dreamlike in sound and sounds like a daydream with Lánre silky and soft voice, her tone is gorgeous and completely unique to what I'm used to listening to. The song is kept very acoustic until the bridge towards the end when you can hear what sounds almost like a heartbeat, the song gets a bit more intense and grittier.
Finally, the EP ends with My Soul, with what sounds like a choir to open the track, it's a little faster with an acoustic guitar being picked at. 'You can't break my soul' is sung throughout the song again inspiring her audiences to 'keep living' and pushing forward to what you want to achieve.
Though the EP is very different to what I would normally listen to, I would recommend to check it out. Each song is very inspiring and makes you want to accomplish something more. Check out Lánre's 'Human' below. You can also preorder the EP here with an instant download of Human.
