MUSIC: Lilygreen and Maguire - Hologram

Lilygreen and Maguire hinted last night that they had a big announcement today at 5pm, and to say I was excited is an understatement. They are possibly my favourite band/duo/artists. They have this tendency to write songs that are so relatable and beautiful that I can't help but get excited about their new projects. Plus, they are incredibly lovely guys that are passionate about their music.

Their announcement was of their new EP 'Hologram' being available on iTunes now. As soon as I realised this I loaded up iTunes and instantly downloaded it. I'm never disappointed by these guys releases, because I know that they will always be amazing. I honestly don't think they've released a song that I haven't absolutely loved yet.
'Hologram' includes three tracks, the title track, 'Little Hearts' and 'Counting Cars'. 'Hologram' has that country, folk sound to it once again, and sounds a like the perfect song to sing around a camp fire. The lyrics are beautiful, about a lost love but they have this upbeat sound to it which gives the song an uplifting and positive sound to it. On the first time I played this I couldn't stop smiling knowing that these  guys are doing exactly what they do best. Their songs are incredibly catchy too, and they hold that authentic acoustic sound that they absolutely own every time. I like all the hand claps too.

'Little Hearts' depicts the story of someone having to chose what they want and your normal relationship troubles. In my opinion the song is too short, I'd love to hear more but that's probably because I'm greedy and can't get enough of their sound. It has that same folky sound to it, their voices seem to have matured a lot since their previous releases and you can definitely hear their growth in the lyrical content. I like all the little 'la, la, la' parts, it makes it sound more authentic and personal, rather than just having music filling the gaps.

'Counting Cars' the guys placed this song on their YouTube channel a while back now and I've been obsessed with it since I first heard it, so to be able to own it now, makes me very happy. It is such a beautiful song. I get shivers listening to this song, and its one of those songs that you sit and really listen to the story being told, which is one of my favourite things about it.This is probably one of my favourite songs I've heard this year.

I'm so happy that they are back and with new music. One thing guaranteed with Lilygreen and Maguire is that what ever it is you hear on their studio releases, going to see them live in concert, they will sound exactly the same. They don't use any gimmicks, or hide behind anything. If you like that acoustic, folk approach to music then I would definitely check these guys out. I can't wait to see what Lilygreen and Maguire have in store for the future but if these new songs are anything to go by, I know that it will be amazing.

MUSIC: Lilygreen and Maguire - Counting Cars

Lilygreen and Maguire  are one of my favourite duos. I spent my 18th birthday, last year, at their concert in Nottingham and met Jon Maguire, who was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Despite the fact that I was pretty shy and nervous (socially awkward, and fan girling slightly isn't a good combination, sorry). When they announced that they were working on separate projects at the beginning of the year I was completely gutted. Their music has the ability to completely move me, and their upbeat songs cheer me up like no other.
Their hiatus was short lived though, as the guys have announced that they are releasing a new album and last week they shared their new song 'Counting Cars'. As soon as I heard it I was so happy, because not only did it speak to me, but I couldn't believe how beautiful the song was. You can hear growth in not only their voices, but in the lyrics. It has a delicacy about it, and sounds incredibly authentic and natural, it kind of reminds me of being sat at a campfire. I think this is a song that will hit home to pretty much anyone. 'Counting Cars', for me at least, is a song for reminiscing on the good times and the people you've shared those times with. I have even gotten way to emotional listening to this song and had a few tears, it really hits me heard this song, and that's how I know how good a song is. If it touches you or moves you in some way then we're on to a winner.

Lilygreen's voice, in my opinion, has never sounded better. I like that he's showcasing his softer side and the song delving into a more folk inspired style. I like the soft grit that Lilygreen has in his voice. I like the more grown up and country/folk vibe it has and really hope that this is the start of something big for these guys because they really do deserve it.

MUSIC: Artist Focus - Lilygreen and Maguire

At the beginning of the year one of my favourite duos, Lilygreen and Maguire, announced that they were splitting up. I was upset but could see where they were coming from, if you're not with a major label it's difficult to get yourself out there and get a buzz going. However, earlier this week, the guys announced that they will be working together in writing and creating a new album. I am incredibly excited, so I thought I'd give them some appreciation and love on here for those of you who haven't checked out the Welsh duo.
I first discovered Jon Lilygreen when he performed on Eurovision and I liked his voice so decided to keep an eye out for future projects, which is when I came across Lilygreen and Maguire. They're an acoustic pop duo, which is my favourite. They released a couple of EP's before releasing their debut album 'Have a Good Time All the Time' at the end of 2013. There songs are fun and optimistic and sweet. They're relatable about falling in love, falling out of love and being in love with people who don't love you back. Their personalities shine through their music, in particular in 'For Real' which is more of a spoken song but I love it. I find the song quite funny and cheeky.

I saw the guys on my 18th Birthday, last year (one of the best nights ever). They were fun and have a lot of character, especially Lilygreen. I was lucky enough to meet Jon Maguire, however, and he just seemed like the nicest guy ever. If you're new to their music, I would definitely check out their singles 'Ain't Love Crazy', and 'Given Up, Giving Up'. Other favourites of mine are 'I Won't Let It Happen''She's So Hard to Please' and 'Got What It Takes to Love You'. But all of their songs are absolutely beautiful, I don't think there is a single one that I don't like (which is very unusual for me).

I'm really looking forward to seeing what's up next for the guys. They've been working on solo projects recently, but for them to be back together makes me (a huge fan) very happy. I definitely cannot wait for them to start touring again (just a hint) as they're one of my favourite gigs I've been to.
