FASHION: Sharing My Hideaway

This week, myself and Scott went on a little break to Blackpool for a couple of days. It was my 21st and we both fancied just getting away. We've never been on holiday together and even though it was just a couple of days we had an amazing time. Firstly, the weather was awesome which is always incredibly rare. Plus, we were just able to do what we wanted whenever we wanted.

On Wednesday we walked over 13 miles around Blackpool and to say we were knackered is an understatement. After walking the 2 miles up to the Pleasure Beach and South Pier we decided to go to the Zoo (checkout next Tuesday's post). But my favourite part was that I could take Scott to my favourite place - Stanley Park. I don't know what it is about Stanley Park but I just feel incredibly relaxed there. It's incredibly pretty with a boating lake - and you can rent out a boat for a while. We also made a friend and played with someone else's dog for about half an hour, I wish we could've kept it. Anyway, we took a few pictures on the beach but we also had a little impromptu photo shoot in the bandstand. I did have to change my shoes half way through the day because all of that walking did cause some blisters.

LIFE: A Day In Sheffield

A couple of weeks ago, me and my mum took a much needed trip to visit my brother in Sheffield. With working so much, I've only  been getting one day off a week and those days have been spent trying to chill out and run any errands that I may have. So, a rare Saturday off was spent with a forty minute coach journey to Sheffield and spending time with my mum and my brother before his birthday.
I've never been to Sheffield before, mostly because I'm not the best traveller when it comes to buses, but I wanted to get away from my town for a few hours. The plan was to see his flat and see his new kittens (they are so cute). My family are very much cat people and they were so tiny, which made them even more adorable. We then went for a drink in perhaps the coolest bar/pub that I've ever stepped foot into, 'Bungalows and Bears'. After nursing a hangover, my brother told us he needed a safety beer. The pub reminded my a little of Urban Outfitters but with alcohol and food. It was quite  different to anywhere I've been before, I mean look how cool those bathroom doors are.

Next up, as we were in a city, we decided to do a spot of shopping. In all fairness, I think I restrained myself only picking up a few bits and pieces. Lush was definitely on my hit list. I was out of bath bombs and they do my favourites. I also visited H&M mostly because we don't have one where I live. I finally managed to pick up a mustard cardigan (you literally don't know how happy I was about this). Last week, my other brother and his wife also had a baby so we all obviously wanted to get presents. Jordi went for a skeleton Halloween outfit which I have no doubt will look extremely cute whilst I went for a Zebra stuffed animal and my mum picked up a few blue outfits.
At half two, we were all incredibly hungry. We stopped into a Weatherspoons one of my favourite places for food. Me and my mum just went for the Jacket Potato and Cheese whilst Jordi went for a burger. We had a good catch up and my brother teased me about our waiter who apparently kept coming over to talk to me before he dropped some cutlery on the floor (something I would totally do).

With our bus at ten past five, we carried on looking around the shops, going down a lane and popping into a quirky vintage type store. It was a really nice day out, it was lovely to see my brother who we don't get to see too often now. It was obvious that he was happy to see us.

How did you spend your weekend?

FASHION: OOTD Casual Lunch with my Parents

So, for once, me and my dad managed to get a day off work together, so we decided to go out for dinner with my mum. We only went to a local pub which is literally down the road from us, but I really liked what I wore so I thought I would share it with you.

Jacket - River Island / T-Shirt - Topshop / Jeans - Topshop Leigh Jeans

I kept it very casual as I was only walking down the road and wanted to be comfy. So I teamed a pale blue/grey striped t-shirt with my Topshop Leigh Jeans (my favourite) and as it looked a little bit like rain wore this River Island Blazer. It's really thin and is perfect for this time of year. It has a small spot in it which you can't see very well in the image too.

Necklace - Topshop

To dress the outfit up a little I wore this statement necklace from Topshop. I can see me getting a lot of wear out of this. I also wore my white converse but if you wanted to look a little smarter I would pair this look up with a pair of loafers Dorothy Perkins have a lot of nice loafers in at the moment. I had a little spree in Topshop recently, however, all opinions are my own despite that the majority of the post consisting of Arcadia clothing.

Hope you guys have had a nice day, what do you wear on a casual family dinner?

FASHION: Edgy Work Wear

So, I actually wore this outfit a while ago now, I'm sorry for the delay of posting this but to be honest, I just didn't know what title to give this outfit. I've decided on 'Edgy Work Wear' it's not really but compared to what everyone else wears at my  work place, I am definitely breaking the boundaries here.
Cami Dress - ASOS (now in sale) / Skirt - Urban Outfitters (similar here
I bought the skirt from Urban Outfitters (unfortunately its now sold out but there are loads similar on the high street) and noticed it was a little bit see through, and so I decided to buy a little slip dress from ASOS, that way I could wear it like a cami top but feel more confident that you couldn't see my knickers. When I went to work, I actually teamed this up with black tights (we can't show bare legs, unfortunately, plus it is a little short for my work) and some dainty loafer type shoes. I also think that this outfit would be perfect for a night out without tights and wearing some shoe boots or heels.
Look at that awkward posing and what is my hair doing? Shexy ;)
I will definitely be cracking this outfit out more with tights and some boots when the weather drops a little cooler. I always find I love wearing skirts and dresses more in Autumn and Winter because I can wear tights and boots (my winning combo).

FASHION: OOTD River Island Smock Dress

I recently purchased this gorgeous smock dress from River Island (I think it's now on sale guys, so check it out). It's one of the comfiest dresses I've ever worn and looks absolutely stunning on, I saw a lady wearing this dress the other day and she looked stunning in it. It's just a really pretty summer dress.
It's a gorgeous pattern, and described as an Abstract Floral Print with pinks, mints and purples within it. I've honestly never bought such a pretty dress before for myself. In the picture above I just wore it with some leggings which if I was to wear this to work I would probably wear leggings or tights (I've had far too many wardrobe malfunctions including flashing the store manager oops to not wear leggings or tights). I just thought that this would be perfect for the summer and so I ordered my normal size from the River Island site. There wasn't much difference in the sizes to be honest.

I cannot wait for some warmer weather so I can take this dress out for a spin without the leggings. I'll either wear a cardigan or a my mint or pale pink blazer with it if it's a little cooler.

(casually using my brothers bedroom because the lighting is better than my own room what is that piece of hair doing?)

I've been loving River Island at the moment, what shops are you liking?

FASHION: OOTD River Island Blouse

Last Saturday I needed some serious retail therapy after being a bit down in the dumps before I went to work. When I finished my shift I phoned my mum to come and meet me in town. My town is only really small and we have one shopping center with about 15 shops in total this includes everything from HMV, Boots and Primark. Really there isn't that much in their so when shopping it can be a little hit and miss. However, I did find an absolutely gorgeous blouse in River Island.

(Sorry about the 'selfie' approach but this is the best that I can do at the moment)

The top is a really light weight cotton material which is perfect for the summer as it won't be too warm. The front top half of the blouse is lined as it is slightly see through but the rest isn't which again helps to keep you cool on warm days. You can also just about see that there are some little cut outs in the shirt. I thought that this was really cute. The print has flowers and birds within it and the print is bright pink and orange. I loved the colours as soon as I saw it but I struggle to wear bright pinks and orange as they tend to wash me out. With the shirt itself being white though this meant that I could wear this and it was bright without making me look incredibly pale.

The blouse was right at the front of the store and it sort of called out to me as I walked past. I simply had to try it on. The shirt has buttons down the back which I really like, I also find the high neck is quite flattering on my small figure. I did pick up a size 10 in this as the size 8 was just a little tight to get on and over my head (I'm too lazy to faf about with the buttons in the back). I thought that this blouse would be a staple for me this summer, as it'd be nice for BBQ's or going out for meals with jeans. I just thought that I would get a lot of wear out of this and I haven't got anything similar to it in my wardrobe all my tops are quite plain. The top was about £25 it's a nice quality and I can see me wearing it an awful lot, so I thought the price was reasonable.

I wore this to the pub with my work friends the following Monday with my Topshop Leigh Jeans in a light blue wash and my New Look Tan T-Bar Shoes. My friend Tracey and Sarah both said that I looked very summery which meant that I achieved my goal and I was super comfy.

What are your summer staples?

FASHION: ASOS Boyfriend Stripe T-shirt & Bad Neighbours

So, I've been wanting to do fashion posts for awhile now, not because I'm particularly adventurous with what I wear but I do like putting outfits together and reading other bloggers 'Outfits of the Day' are some of my favourite posts to read. As a disclaimer the images aren't particularly brilliant but you can get the idea, I do only use my iPhone and as of yet friends and family do not know about my blogging so this is the best I can do at the moment. I hope that pictures will become of better quality over time.
Anyway, this is what I wore last week when I went to the cinema. My ASOS Boyfriend White and Navy Stripe T-shirt (they have other colours also) had just arrived that morning, so I obviously wanted to wear it. I ordered the size 6 (normally I'm an 8) but I know that sometimes that the ASOS brand can come slightly bigger plus it was boyfriend styled. I did want the t-shirt to be slightly oversized but I didn't want it to bury me, so this fit just how I liked. The t-shirt was incredibly soft which I wasn't expecting as it was quite cheap, so I was thoroughly impressed with this buy. I paired it with a Grey Cardigan/Jacket from Primark because I always get cold in the cinema and wanted to use it like a blanket (is it just me that does this?) I also wore my Topshop Leigh Black Jeans and a pair of Black Classic Vans

For accessories I wore a Primark Necklace which I recently picked up in the sale for £3 (bargain!) Along with a River Island Cat Ears Midi Ring

I wanted to be comfy and I also wore my Topshop Khaki Parka as it kept raining and I had to walk into town to meet my friend and then up to the cinema which takes about 30 minutes. In the rain that is torture. However, wearing a statement necklace made it look like I made more of an effort. I felt comfy and relaxed which was what I was going for.

Me and my two friends went to see Bad Neighbours at our local cinema (Odeon) it was on a Tuesday and we got in as teens/students so it only cost £5.50 (not bad, eh?) The film was pretty funny. If you're a fan of Seth Rogan's or Zac Efron's I would advise watching it. It's also a good film to go and see with your girl friends just so that you're not alone in drooling over Zac and Dave Franco.

Have you seen Bad Neighbours? Did you enjoy it?
